The Last Mommy Blog was launched in 2016 as a place to share the ups and downs of new motherhood. If you’re expecting your first baby and trying to envision what life will be like once that bump is a real person, or holding that real person and trying to figure out how you’re ever going to sleep (or shower) again, may this site be a place of solace, commiseration and community for you.

It’s called The Last Mommy Blog in full acknowledgement that it joins approximately infinity other mommy blogs in the great vast Internet… but trust, it’s got a unique voice worth adding to your reading list. (Or at least that’s what I’m aiming for.)

TLMB covers topics ranging from stay-at-home and work-at-home parenthood, to recipes for the extremely sleep deprived, personal chronicles of the early days of motherhood and advice you can follow at your own risk. These topics will surely grow as my baby does, so stay tuned.

A note about content: While I’m doing my best to quit dropping F-bombs like “A seventh-grader who just learned how to swear,” (in the adoring words of my husband), this is not a blog for the faint of heart when it comes to curse words. I may be cutting out most of the four-letter words in front of my baby, but I make up for it here when the topic warrants it.

About Me

family-photoI’m Reanna, and I’m a 30-year-old mom of one living in Northeast Ohio. I started this blog as I became panic stricken following my decision to stay home with my son about eight weeks into maternity leave rather than returning to work.

You’ll find me referring to The Baby and The Husband/The Dad rather than their names, because I’m trying to strike a balance between my tendency toward impulsive oversharing and my loved ones’ right to their own stories. That’s also why you won’t find photos of The Baby on my blog or elsewhere online. (But it’s totally cool if you share your baby’s pictures online. Like Planet Fitness but with fewer treadmills, this is a judgment-free zone.)

I am a writer/communicator by trade and blog as a creative outlet and opportunity for me to exercise a vocabulary that extends beyond “spit-up” “nap time” and “your turn to change the baby’s diaper.” (Though I still lean heavily on those words in this blog.)

Even more background for the extremely curious

I was born and raised in a suburb of Cleveland, attended journalism school at Ohio University, and moved to South Carolina when I graduated in 2008 (right at the precipice of the Great Recession, lucky for me) to live with The Boyfriend, who soon after became The Fiance and then The Husband. We moved back north in 2011 to be closer to our friends and family and made a home in Cleveland until very recently, when we moved to Medina to be EVENCLOSER to my family.

My pre-baby career primarily consisted of communications gigs at nonprofit organizations, and most recently within a county government office. My first job out of college involved coordinating maternity education, lactation consultations and the operation of a lactation boutique… which goes a long way to explaining why it took The Husband and me five years to decide we were ready to take the plunge into parenthood.

Before we had a human baby, we practiced keeping two cats and a dog alive, and as you can see in the above photo they love us very much and especially love posing for pictures.

A short list of things I enjoy

  • Hanging out with The Baby
  • Writing
  • What I like to call “Improv cooking”
  • Eating
  • Craft beer (drinking and watching my husband brew)
  • Being mediocre at crafts
  • Trying really hard to be eco-conscious and socially conscious (and budget conscious, now that we’re a one-income family)
  • Taking long walks and maybe someday I’ll enjoy running again

  1. I’m glad you found my blog and I could start following you because I’m also 30 with my first kiddo and also a Midwest gal (metro Detroit). All of my extended fam lives in Ohio and one of my best friends just moved to Medina! 😀 Excited to read more of your thoughts on motherhood
